Alex Caceres “Feels He’s Just Getting Started”

UFC veteran Alex Caceres feels that at 32 years old he’s ready to string together some wins en route to making a run up the rankings.

“To be quite honest with you I feel as though I’m just getting started,” Caceres told me. “I feel like at this age my body is finally maturing and it’s been easier for me to put on lean mass.”

The man they call ‘Bruce Leeroy’ sounds more motivated than ever to put in the extra work needed to take down everyone in his path.

“I have more desire to train,” he said. “They say that comes with increased levels of testosterone… so I could just be blossoming into a man.”

It’s been a pretty long path to get to this fight for Caceres, but he’s prevailed unscathed and ready for battle.

“We began training for the Giga (Chickadze) fight in July-ish because we were supposed to fight on the 8th of August and that fell through so they switched us to the 29th,” Caceres said. “I don’t have any injuries, I’m not sore, I’m not wobbling around, we’re just ready to go.”

News broke Thursday morning that Caceres’ replacement opponent Kevin Croom is OUT and he will now face Austin Springer this Saturday. Caceres is staying focused on his performance though, not who it’s against.

“Honestly, I was just happy to get an opponent to fight. To me it doesn’t matter… we prepare for the best so a new opponent is thank you I can go and eat on Saturday.”

Anyone who has followed Alex Caceres’ career knows that when he’s at his best he is a tough night out for anyone. People must not forget or dismiss that he nearly beat Michael Johnson and Yair Rodriguez, and did defeat Sergio Pettis.

‘Bruce Leeroy’ has used his experience to be successful against these young fighters the UFC has matched him with, and he hopes to continue that trend this weekend againt UFC newcomer Austin Springer.

Make sure to tune in this Saturday to catch Alex Caceres “fulfill his destiny” versus Austin Springer on ESPN+.
