Eli Focused On Dallas, Not His Giants Career

With Week 17 coming up, the New York Giants are already eliminated from playoff contention. The question for this franchise moving forward is not on Odell Beckham Jr. or the other young players. It’s on quarterback Eli Manning and if it’s his last game playing for the Giants.

“No, just worried about this game, and finishing this season, and going out there and playing hard,”said Manning after Wednesday’s practice. “We’ll handle all of that after the season. I view it as the last game of this season, and that’s it.”

Well, Manning as professional as he is with media focused on the Dallas Cowboys and nothing else. The Giants are 5-10 and really haven’t recovered from that awful 1-7 first half start. They beaten bad teams but really cost themselves a chance to be in the Wild Card hunt losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite an inconsistent offensive line, Manning this season threw 19 touchdowns to 10 interceptions on 66.5 percent of his passes. However, critics say that Manning doing short passes improved his percentage. Either way his teammates know that it’s better than throwing picks on long passes.

Giants fans want a new quarterback next season. They have seen enough of Manning over the past few years. But the front office believes in him and knows he’s coming back for one more season.

“I can’t remember how the last game of every season worked out,” said Manning. “This is the last game this team will play. It’s an opportunity for us, young guys and new guys, to get playing time, and for guys to grow. I think we are building something. I think when you have new players, and a new team, and a bunch of new guys coming from one year that hopefully will be here next year, I think you are building kind of the character and a winning attitude. So, I think those things can carry over.”
