Jaguars Release RB Leonard Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released running back Leonard Fournette on Monday after struggling to find a trade partner for the running back this summer.
Fournette was the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft and had a pretty decent rookie season rushing for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games.

His rushing attack and the Jaguars stout defense led them to a surprising 2017 season—winning the AFC South and making it to the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
But in just those two seasons afterwards things have gone downhill for Forunette.

The following year he only appeared in half the season and accumulating 439 yards and finishing 5-11 along with some off the field issues that led to a one game suspension. Last season was Fournette’s best career wise in his short three years with 1,152 yards on the ground and playing in all but one
game.

So what’s next for the former first round running back? Seemingly that now no other team wants Fournette, but hopefully a team that is in the position to win now and is willing to take a chance on him. He has recently shown that he can also catch out of the backfield.

As for the Jaguars, it seems like they are on the verge of the ‘tanking for Trevor’ sweepstakes as they are just letting talent go that was a part of that AFC championship game team. Jalen Ramsey is now in LA with the Rams, Calais Campbell is with the Baltimore Ravens, and they just traded
DE Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings.

Gardner Minshew is likely their starting QB for this season, but this team is still looking for their franchise guy after Blake Bortles nor Nick Foles worked out. As for Fournette eventually he’ll might get signed with no preseason games he may have to wait for injuries to occur and a team
may give him another shot to get his career heading in the right direction.
