Knicks’ Kenny Wooten Out Atleast Six Weeks With Left Thumb Injury

Power forward Kenny Wooten tore a ligament in his left thumb during the Westchester Knicks’ February 17th game.

The Knicks announced Monday he’ll have surgery and will be out a minimum of six weeks. There is a possibility he could return before the team’s April 15 season finale.

He was averaging 7.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks for Westchester this season.

“I couldn’t say medically where he can be,’’ interim head coach Mike Miller said when asked about Wooten. “The point we were at and the plan was to make sure he was getting the valuable experience. He had a good year of development. He’s taken advantage of a lot of minutes he’s getting.’’

Wooten missed a month earlier this season recovering from a dislocated finger in his right hand.

The Knicks signed Wooten to a two-way contract back in January.
