Serena the Trailblazer

Unsurprisingly, Serena Williams is leaving her fans in awe since her return to the court. Her latest opponent, Sloane Stephens, is just another who simply could not conquer a legend.

“It was intense,” she commented after her glorious display. “It brings out the best in my fitness when I play Sloane.”

She is now on her way to the fourth round and bound to turn many more heads. Her next opponent, Maria Sakkari, may be more of a challenge. The pair recently faced off at the Western and Southern Open, with Williams left in the dust. Will Williams rise from her former downfall?

In anticipation of the rematch, Sakkari commended her adversary: “Basically, you know, you never know what you’re going to get with Serena, because she can come up with some amazing game and amazing shots.”

Serena’s latest pattern of saving the best for last is certainly working its magic. Hopefully it continues to work for her as she inspires Black lives everywhere.
