The Las Vegas Raiders tied the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, 23-23. A last-second field goal try by Daniel Carlson was blocked and stopped an earnest comeback bid, leaving Pete Carroll’s hopes for revenge up in smoke. Additionally, it left Raiders fans on a somewhat bitter note heading into Monday.

However, that doesn’t mean all was bad. In fact, there were plenty of good things to take from tying the game. For example, Las Vegas didn’t lose the game. If you didn’t lose, life isn’t so bad, you know?

Therefore, it’s imperative to take the bad with the good. You wouldn’t want to spoil an international trip if a greasy, balding slob tries to steal your seat at the airport, would you? You got sights to see and places to be!

Still, there are three takeaways to be had from that tie. Who stood out among their peers? What did the Raiders do that signified the times were changing?

1.) Las Vegas Raiders… With Attitude?

The big spectacle surrounded Geno Smith as he entered the field. The Seattle crowd was raucous and loud, greeting him with plenty of boos. Mind you, this isn’t Russell Wilson coming back (even he had some problems with his return to the Emerald City).

So what did the quarterback and Maxx Crosby do in response to the hostile crowd? Well, you give ’em the bird! It was a reaction that had the “NSFW” crowd up in arms, asking why they would ever do such a thing.

Additionally, it only intensified the home crowd’s feelings. You don’t go about throwing up your tallest fingers at your old town, right?

However, it also signalled a different type of attitude. This harkens back to the NWA days, where Ice Cube was rapping about being “Straight Outta Compton.” Nonetheless, get ready for “Raiders With Attitude” this season.

2.) Isaiah Pola-Mao Had A Strong Showing

The safety is projected to be the starting safety in Pete Carroll’s 4-3 defense. He only solidified his spot with a strong showing against the Seahawks, flying all over the field.

That included an interception of Drew Lock in the first quarter. Seattle was driving downfield and ready to score when Pola-Mao nabbed the ball, giving the Raiders possession.

Pola-Mao also had two total tackles (one solo), turning in a strong performance heading into the 2025 season. It seems like he’ll become a vital part of the Raiders defensively, especially when it comes to the secondary.

3.) Cam Miller Does Great In His Limited Time

Cam Miller might’ve thrown seven passes against the Seahawks. However, he had six completions for 76 passing yards and a touchdown, turning in a strong performance himself.

The quarterback also showed some legs, running for four yards. Yes, I know.

“It’s only preseason and he’s not going to be the starter.”

Still, you can’t deny that Miller is making a strong case to make the roster. He played like he wanted a spot on the team and put in tremendous work on Saturday. He’ll be a player to watch as the preseason continues.
