WWE fans watching Seth Rollins and The Vision on Monday were in for a treat. They saw Bron Brekker spear the World Heavyweight Champion and Bronson Reed splash him into oblivion. While it shocked fans until the end of the week, the betrayal felt… premature.
First, you’re doing it in front of a crowd that probably isn’t watching television. Most people are working at 11:00 AM and won’t even know that this happened. Why pull the trigger on betraying Seth Rollins when nobody’s going to watch?
Secondly, there’s not enough buildup to The Vision’s credibility. The group started after Wrestlemania 41 and hasn’t even gotten a full year yet. You’re crushing any credibility and momentum the stable has, leaving them less credible than before.
Betraying Seth Rollins This Early Only Makes Sense If You’re Pushing Bron Brekker Now
Of course, this hinges on whether WWE truly believes in Bron Breakker as one of the promotion’s top stars. Speculation has been made about the massive heavyweight’s ascent through the promotional ranks. He already has two NXT Championships and two Intercontinental Championships in his name.
If the WWE is serious about pushing Breakker to the next level, that means putting him over against his former leader. Additionally, that means having him go on a lengthy run as a main event champion, crushing everything in his path. WWE was serious about pushing him to the moon in the past years and they’re looking to get him there.
The question is, why now? Why sacrifice any credibility tied to The Vision’s name by suddenly having Rollins’s stablemates turn on him? What purpose does it serve, even if it means elevating Breakker’s name to the next level?
That’s the major question that WWE must ask itself after booking this. Furthermore, they must realize that pulling the trigger this early defeats the very purpose of making Breakker credible. They squandered the ultimate chance at turning The Vision into the second coming of Evolution.
