Phoenix Mercury guard Bria Hartley will not return for the rest of the WNBA 2020 season.
Hartley suffered a torn ACL knee injury during the victory against the Washington Mystics. The former UConn Huskie was in her seventh season and first with the Mercury.
“It’s not a good injury,” says Phoenix Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello.
“Really unfortunate,” Brondello said. “She means so much to this team. She’s been playing great. Everyone is seeing what she is capable of. It’s been really a joy coaching her. Hopefully, she can have a speedy recovery and get back on the court with us next year.”
Hartley will be missed for the Mercury’s offensive. Hartley averaged 14.6 points and 4.5 assists. The Mercury are currently fifth in the Western Conference (9-7).
