Last week, the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury battled in Brandenton, FL. Diana Taurasi limped off the court in the fourth quarter. Seattle won (74-68).
Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello reported that injury as a “muscle issue” in Taurasi’s hip. Additionally that the injury is completely unrelated to the back injury Taurasi suffered last season. Taurasi underwent an MRI that confirmed no structural damage. There was an additional evaluation for time prediction for Taurasi’s return. Still no official timing for her return has been released.
The three-time champion is in her 16th season. Taurasi averaged 20.5 points and 7.8 assists this season.
