Overview

Zach Frazier has been dominating the Big 12 throughout his collegiate career. A true center, Frazier has the athleticism, strength, and leadership skills required to captain an offensive line for a long time. He might not have the desired height, but what he lacks in height, he makes up for elsewhere.

A star wrestler in high school, Frazier understands how to use leverage and momentum to his advantage. Going into contact, Frazier maintains the proper leverage to win consistently. In pass protection, Frazier does a good job keeping good pad height and has the footwork needed to anchor down against rushers of all sizes and skill levels. Down the field, Frazier’s athleticism is again evident with how in control he is of his body. He doesn’t overrun his assignments is always sure to get a good piece of them before moving on to his next victim.

In terms of where he could improve, there isn’t much. There is the occasional occurrence where Frazier opens his hips too quickly in pass protection to run with rushers rather than trusting his feet. But besides this, the only other thing he could improve upon is surveying for stunts and delayed blitzes.

There’s a clear reason why Frazier’s been able to dominate Power Five football throughout his career. The dude can flat-out play the game of football. While he isn’t projected to go first round, there’s a case that could be made for him to go early second. Either way, watch for him as a potential Day 2 lock.

My Two Cents

After Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson, Zach Frazier is my Center2 in this year’s draft. He may not be the biggest, but he does just about all the little things right and is a natural leader. Frazier is someone who can come in on day one and make an immediate impact by captaining an offensive line.
