The Other Heavyweight Showcase This Saturday

Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik are set to square off this Saturday in a battle of two of the best strikers in the heavyweight division.

The fight is being moderately overlooked due to UFC 252’s legendary main event, but JDS vs Rozenstruik has very heavy implications at heavyweight.

‘Cigano’ attempts to right the ship after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time in his long, accomplished career. Meanwhile, ‘Bigi Boy’ strives to redeem himself following his first UFC loss to the hands of Francis Ngannou.

For Junior dos Santos, this fight gets him one step closer to competing for another UFC championship.

“That is my main goal right now to become the champion again. I have everything it takes and I believe I will become the champion again, it is just a matter of time.”

At the same time, Rozenstruik views this bout as an opportunity to inch one step closer to his first title fight, which he hopes is against Ngannou.

“I hope he becomes the champ and it makes our rematch more interesting,” he claimed. “I would love to run it back… it was taken away real quick, everyone can get caught with one shot,” proclaimed Rozenstruik. “Nothing but respect but I would love to run it back.”

As for the fight itself, it’s a match up of two of the best heavyweight strikers on the planet.

JDS is lightning quick for a heavyweight and he does a phenomenal job of staying light on his feet as he throws combinations. Then, once he has his opponent hurt, he stays calculated while he searches for the finish.

Rozenstruik comes from an extensive kickboxing career where he went (76-8-1). A mix of superb technique and devastating power has translated over to the octagon.

Although this fight will likely not end up on the mat, dos Santos will have a sizable experience edge there.

The winner of this blue-chip heavyweight scrap will take a large step towards challenging for the belt. You will NOT want to miss this one.
