Williams vs. Williams

As the Top Seed Open resumes in Kentucky, the anticipation of reviving sporting events only gets stronger. This past Thursday, the legendary tennis sisters – Venus and Serena Williams – faced off for the 31st time in their careers.

To add one more win to her lead, Serena once again knocked Venus off the court. However, it does not seem to be the sweetest victory.

Serena struggled to find her groove in the first set, similar to her debut against Bernarda Pera, which appears to be much deeper than being rusty. After the game, she spoke of her internal conflicts when playing against Venus: “It’s never easy.”

However, as much as she fought her conflicting feelings, she made sure to deliver an exciting match. With the stakes getting higher and higher, these are no longer practice games for the US Open.

“I feel like today I turned it up in the last two games. I needed to just play better,” the legend commented, while also praising Venus for bringing the heat. Serena is now set to advance to the quarterfinals, leaving Venus to pack things up for this tournament.

Of course, these developments only raise more questions. How far will Serena be able to go? Will she be able to keep up her performance and possibly reach new heights in the US Open?

Since the birth of her daughter, Olympia, she has been striking out at the Grand Slam finals. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel: Biana Andreescu, the 2019 victor against Williams, will not be making an appearance. Perhaps 2020 will be the year of Serena Williams being back on top.
