New York Knicks at Philadelphia 76ers
Final Score: NYK 125 – PHI 119
Following Monday night’s tough loss to the Pistons, the Knicks bounced back nicely with an overtime win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Star Joel Embiid was unavailable for this matchup due to an injury. It has been reported that he would miss his sixth straight game with a left foot strain. That is devastating news for the entire 76ers fan base. Still, the team still had Tyrese Maxey and Paul George to carry the load. The two duos would manage to combine for 59 points. However, it would not be enough to secure a win over their rivals.
Josh Hart was the standout player of the night for the Knicks in their thrilling overtime victory. On Wednesday, he notched his fifth triple-double of the season, contributing 10 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists. However, he wasn’t the lone Knicks player to have an impactful performance. Jalen Brunson also had himself a 30+ point performance which was also impressive. With this win, New York has improved their record to 27-15, while Philadelphia falls to 15-24 for the season.
Game 40, January 17, 2025
Minnesota Timberwolves vs New York Knicks
Final Score: MIN 116 – NYK 99
In a frustrating loss, the Knicks weren’t able to keep pace with the Minnesota Timberwolves offensively. Despite an intense fight, especially in the second half, the Knicks struggled defensively, allowing the Timberwolves to hit a season-high 22 three-pointers. Minnesota’s perimeter shooting proved too much to overcome as the Knicks couldn’t slow down Anthony Edwards, who finished with 36 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists. Despite a late rally in the third quarter, the Knicks couldn’t seize control, and the Timberwolves pulled away in the final period. The loss marked New York’s sixth in their last nine games, highlighting their ongoing challenges with defensive consistency.
