Latest NFL Updates on COVID-19 Monitoring Testing

Updates in regards to COVID-19 monitoring testing for the National Football League surfaced today. These results are a reflection from dates ranging from August 12-August 20th.

Players, as well as Tier 1 and 2 personnel were tested daily and Tier 3 individuals were tested weekly. Immediate isolation is mandatory for those who test positive as well as restrictions from travel, club facilities, and contact with other players or workers. They are required to follow the joint NFL-NFLPA Treatment Protocol in order to receive the medical care needed and regain a full recovery. There is a full medical staff available to help monitor symptoms by individuals who are positive and give them the proper care.

There were 58,397 tests administered to 8,573 players and personnel. 23,260 of these tests were administered to the players, and 35,137 were administered to the personnel members. While zero positive test results came back for players, there were still six new confirmed positives among the personnel members. While this number is very low, the NFL must still be very cautious if they want to still begin their season on time.

It is still reassuring to see that they are regulating things in an efficient manner and keeping positive results down, especially among the players. At this rate the NFL should be able to keep that season start date of September 10th, 2020.
