Game 6: November 4th, 2024

New York Knicks at Houston Rockets

Final Score:  HOU 109 – NYK 97

Monday night’s loss against the Houston Rockets snapped the New York Knicks’ two-game winning streak. It also marks the first time both teams have faced off ever since last year’s controversy. In their last meeting in Houston, New York, they felt robbed of a play that sealed their victory in the last second. They felt the game-deciding foul call was incorrect on Jalen Brunson. The team tried to file a formal protest but was ultimately dismissed. In this recent meeting against the Rockets, the team felt screwed again, but it was less consequential.

Game 7: November 6, 2024

New York Knicks at Atlanta Hawks

Final Score: ATL 121 – NYK 116

For the first time this season, the New York Knicks have dropped consecutive losses on the road. As a result of their loss, the team falls below .500 with a 3-4 record. There are major reasons why this team loss this game to the Atlanta Hawks. One of them is the ability to limit the turnovers. New York was very sloppy in their first quarter, allowing six turnovers. Even worse, they shot 4-for-14 (28.6) from the three-point line. Some players even had a rough shooting night. Jalen Brunson, for example, struggled from the field. He went 8-for-18 from the field and 4-for-10 from the three-point line for 21 points. Even his teammate Mikal Bridges had struggled as well. He shot 4-for-10 from the field with two threes for 10 points.

Though there are positive takeaways from this game. Karl-Anthony Towns had another great game. He dropped another 30+ point performance. In the first half, Towns scored 20 while managing to score 14 in the second half. Towns also had 16 rebounds, three blocks, one assist, and one steal to his performance. Things are looking promising for Towns thus far in his first season in Knicks uniform.

Game 8: November 8, 2024

Milwaukee Bucks vs New York Knicks

Final Score: NYK 116 – MIL 96

Saturday’s night win over the Milwaukee Bucks saw the Knicks putting their two-game losing skid to an end. Even better, the win was in a blowout. There are many things to be proud of in New York’s latest victory over Milwaukee. First and foremost, they were attacking the paint aggressively. Attacking the paint is crucial if the Knicks want to win blowout games over their opponents. That is what that they were lacking in their game. We also saw them make better shot selection, something that they were missing in their last game against the Hawks.

KAT was too much for Milwaukee’s defense. As a result of his domination, the Bucks had to switch up the matchup when guarding him. So, they decided to go with Giannis Antetokounmpo instead of Brook Lopez. The idea kind of made sense. It added more athleticism to it. The plan workout for Milwaukee worked but it didn’t stop Towns from having another monster game. He finished the evening with 32 points. Jalen Brunson also contributed with 15 points and a season-high-tying nine assists – along with zero turnovers in just 32 minutes.

Sunday night’s loss against the Indiana Pacers is indeed a tough one to swallow. They were defeated in a back-and-forth action. The Knicks controlled much of the game but lost momentum heading into the fourth quarter. They allowed the Pacers to score 4o points on them. Headlining Indiana’s comeback into the fourth quarter was newly Knick-killer Bennedict Mathurin. Tonight, he drilled the Knicks with 38 points, which came along with 7 three-pointers. He wasn’t the only one that contributed in Indiana’s late rally. Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner had also contributed as well.
