2020 has been an absolute whirlwind of crazy news not only in the real world but also in the NFL. The NFL draft became virtual, Tom Brady shocked everyone when he signed with Tampa, Cam Newton ended up in New England, preseason games were cancelled, Patrick Mahomes agreeing to a half-a-billion dollar deal to stay in Kansas City, the list goes on and on.
With all that being said, the season is right around the corner. We, the fans, have been through a lot to get to this point, so pat yourself on the back because we’ve almost arrived for week one.
We’ve been through ebbs and flows in this corona-riddled offseason. There were no OTAs or mini camps, the structure of training camp was completely changed. Players have had to adjust to daily testing, social distancing and acclimation protocols that were set in place. There are many uncertainties going into this season personnel wise that leave this season high in anticipation before the action. Will injuries go up once the games start? Will rookies struggle to adapt? These are some things to keep in mind as we get closer to kickoff.
However, if/when those things do happen, teams will have the luxury of picking from an extremely talented free agent pool. Below is an All-Free Agent team compiled of the best remaining players in each position. This group has a combined 57 Pro Bowl appearances along with 13 All-Pro selections. Whether it be durability/age concerns, contractual/money issues, or questions about their character, some of the league’s former biggest stars are still free agents:
*Note: This is not a 53-man roster, just a nod to some of the league’s best talent in free agency.
