Best April MLB Promotions: AL East

The 2025 MLB season is now in gear. And that marks the start of a new series of articles with a rundown of the best April MLB promotions.

MLB teams are always looking for new ways to bring fans to the stadium, and they have come up with some fun promotions. This will be a month-by-month, division-by-division breakdown of some of the best team promotions in MLB. I’ll start by noting the April promotions in the AL East. Now, some of these promotions are great ways to connect with the team’s city and communities.

In a way, these promotions are a step up from the Copa de la Diversion program that’s taking the minor leagues by storm. That’s unsurprising considering that major league teams have greater resources available to them.

So, what do teams have on tap in this first month of the regular season? Let’s take a look…

Tampa Bay Rays

Unfortunately, the Tampa Bay Rays do not have a promotion on the schedule in the month of April. They did, however, begin their season on March 28 by handing out a schedule magnet to most fans, which has become an Opening Day tradition in central Florida. Since they are temporarily playing at a minor league stadium in Tampa, the Rays have more important things on their mind than free T-shirts.

New York Yankees

Now, the New York Yankees, conversely, have multiple promotions on tap for April. One notable promotion is giving away 10,000 tickets to kids 14 and under to HersheyPark on Sunday, April 27.

But, for the best April MLB Promotion for the Yankees, I think the best choice will be a custom trim Yankees hockey jersey courtesy of Donna Karan New York on Friday, April 25. And, fittingly, it goes to the first 18,000 fans in attendance to the game against… surprise, surprise… the Toronto Blue Jays. A hockey jersey giveaway on a night featuring America vs. Canada? That is obviously according to plan. How unquestionably clever of those Yankees.

Baltimore Orioles

The next stop on the hunt for the best April MLB promotions in the AL East is Birdland. Charm City. The home of the Baltimore Orioles. Now, there’s a lot of options on the docket to choose from. Autism Acceptance Night is on Thursday, April 17. A plush toy and Kids’ Opening Day happened on Sunday the 13th. Bark at the Park is tomorrow, Wednesday the 16th. Orioles alumni autographs and a custom hockey jersey on Friday the 18th. [Hey, evidently, the idea of hockey is popular in the mid-Atlantic, too.] Even an Orange-Out (fans asked to wear their best orange color gear) event took place this weekend featuring a free OF Cedric Mullins shirt.

But, for the best promotion of the list, how about a bobblehead giveaway saluting a successful owner? On Saturday, April 19, the Orioles will give away a bobblehead of their owner, David Rubenstein. Rubenstein’s philanthropy efforts and hard work are qualities to be chiefly cherished as an owner. His, comparatively, put him among some of the best quality of the MLB owners and GMs. Therefore, the David Rubenstein bobblehead is the best choice here for the best April MLB promotion for the Orioles.

Boston Red Sox

Two teams left. Hence, the next team on the list is one with a confusing hashtag. That team? The Boston Red Sox. Now, I, for one, don’t understand the meaning behind the social media hashtag of DirtyWater when it comes to the Red Sox. Someone will have to explain that later.

In any case, Boston has quite a few promotions on their calendar in 2025. Three of them will be featured in April. Leading off on April 7, the Sox saluted their All-Star Game MVP, OF Jarren Duran, with a commemorative bobblehead. Then, on Easter Sunday (April 20), fans can take an on-field photo with their favorite Red Sox player.

There’s also a squishy pillow giveaway in the form of the Red Sox mascot, Wally, or his gal pal, Tessie, on Thursday the 24th.

But for the best of the bunch in the month of April, why not salute the Boston Marathon?

On Monday, April 21, Patriots’ Day, the first 7,500 fans through the gates will receive a Patriots’ Day puffy vest.

Coupled with the Boston Marathon, and how chilly it can get sometimes in April, this is a great idea. And a great choice for a promotion.

Toronto Blue Jays

For the final stop on this promotion hunt, it’s time to go north of the border. Let’s check in and see what the Toronto Blue Jays are up to.

For the month of April, Toronto will feature these promotions:

• City Connect Bomber Jacket (Friday, April 18) [Every Friday home game, the Jays will wear their City Connect jersey]
• School Day (Wednesday, April 16)
• Loonie Dogs nights (Tuesday, April 15 and April 29) [Loonie = Canadian Dollar]

 

But, the best of the bunch? An C Alejandro Kirk bobble-arm. Yes, that’s not a typo. A bobble-arm. Kirk is slowly becoming one of the better catchers in MLB. And what are some catchers known for? Their throwing arms.
