The Carolina Panthers are very well known for their 2015 season run to the Super Bowl, but inevitably losing to the Broncos. However, the team and new owner David Tepper are also notorious for their involvement with their community and their charities.
From the Cam Newton Foundation to the Carolina Panthers Charities, the organization enjoys giving back to those in need. With the school year right around the corner, the David A. Tepper Charitable Foundation and the Carolina Panthers Charities partnered with the John M. Belk Endowment and US Foods, while Classroom Central is coordinating the multi-school distribution, to kick off the school year by delivering backpacks and school supplies to over 15,000 students in the Carolinas.
“Ensuring that students have the basic resources they need for the classroom is critical for their confidence, development and success,” said David Tepper, owner of the Panthers. “I am proud to team up with our community partners for this important effort.”
The distribution will begin with an “encouragement rally” for 500 students at Columbia’s Forest Heights Elementary School on August 22 at 10:00 am – 10:30am.19 other Richland One Schools will receive backpacks with school supplies through the program. Additional back-to-school encouragement rallies and distributions will be held in Garner, N.C. on August 27 and Charlotte on August 30.
