The New York Giants will officially open the John Harbaugh era at MetLife Stadium today, hosting the Minnesota Vikings in their 2026 preseason opener.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, with the game airing locally on WNBC.
The matchup also brings some recent history between the two franchises. The Giants and Vikings have met 33 times in the regular season, with Minnesota holding a 19-10 advantage. The teams have also met four times in the postseason.
Their most recent meeting came last season at MetLife Stadium, when the Vikings escaped with a 16-13 victory in Week 16.
For the Giants, however, the most memorable recent meeting came in the postseason.
New York’s last victory over Minnesota came on January 15, 2023, when the Giants traveled to Minneapolis and stunned the Vikings 31-24 in the NFC Wild Card Round. That victory sent the Giants to the Divisional Round and remains one of the defining moments of the franchise’s recent history.
Now, nearly four years later, the Giants and Vikings meet again—but this time with a new Giants coaching staff, a dramatically reshaped roster and a new era beginning under Harbaugh.
While preseason results ultimately mean little in the standings, today’s game represents the first opportunity to see the new-look Giants take the field in a game setting.
For Giants fans, the wait is over.
