Keeping Calm and Consider Keuchel: A Mets Fan’s PSA.

The Mets are in third place in the NL East. The Phillies are currently 5.5 games ahead of them. To salvage this season, Keuchel ‘s veteran presence and prowess, has to be considered. Basically. don’t panic Mets fans, but they must make a splash move immediately. Giving Keuchel 20 Million for one year, would only cost the Mets 2 million in the luxury tax.

They can afford him, he will pitch and guide players that haven’t been in a race. Furthermore, he has shown in the postseason, that he has guts. World series champion, sitting there, your season is teetering. If the Mets don’t keep pace, people won’t go to games. So Wilpons, open up that checkbook. They are giving injured Familia 30 M over 3(10/per). Cespedes, who is literally falling off, they have signed until 2021.

He has a no trade clause, No offense, Cano doesn’t run it’s world war 3. But time in, time out Cespedes has not taken care of his body, which is directly correlated to the Met’s success. Keep calm, Mets fans, stick with Mickey. The schedule is favorable going forward.

The Phillies have a gauntlet ahead however. They must be resilient, but bringing up young talent has to be a thought. Anthony Kay, for AA Binghamton fired 7 shutout innings. Murmurs of bringing him up are heating up. For now, Mets fans: look at the calendar.

Just stay within 7 GB by all star break should be the goal they set forth. That is a lack luster goal also, but not something infeasible to come back from. Deep breath, we have lots of baseball left. The schedule going forward for the Metropolitans goes as follows: 2 more at home against the Nats, Then three at home against the lackluster tigers.

These games are crucial because as Philly is facing the Cubs, they go on the road against the “Brew Crew”. Then the more than formidable cardinals, next @ Dodgers and @ San Diego. Granted The Amazins’ play the dodgers and D’backs also. But these next five games are crucial. The Mets showed grit and kept coming back in a 6-5 victory in which Rosario, legged out an infield single for the game winning hit.

Not to mention, “Pete” continues to eat, knotting the game at 5 with a solo shot. This team isn’t rolling over, they know they are considered mediocre. So maybe they just have a little something to prove….Callaway pushed the right buttons tonight and without throwing Familia into an all too familiar position. He would’ve managed a good game.

Also leaving Wheeler in at 113 pitches, in which Dozer laced a tater tot. But his prowess showed pinch hitting Dominic Smith first, then JD Davis. There is some fight to this team and I would think its blasphemous to write them off.  They are a unit, Callaway and the Front Office need to push the right buttons. Lastly, Familia serves up meatballs. Truly sick of seeing the same scenario happen most of the time. They need to consider Kimbrel, Familia just doesn’t perform under pressure. Truthfully never has, Diaz and Kimbrel.

I love the sound of that. Ill even give him 3 years. Call me crazy, but when Alonso was in spring training vying for a spot, I proclaimed him Rookie of the Year. At the rate he’s sending balls into orbit, I just may be right. Regardless, Cano’s bat needs to wake up, he is lunging at everything. I believe he will turn it around though, long layoff. So Met’s fans, chill out and grab some popcorn, they got a tall task.

Anyone judging a team on May 22nd, knows nothing about 162 game seasons. Snide, slumps, and even surges will happen. The sky is falling way too quick for Met’s fans, the Phillies are together for the first year. They will too experience hardship, we just have to weather the storm”
