The Knicks visited the short-handed 76ers on Thursday night and still came up short in a 115-106 loss. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid both did not play in the game. Tobias Harris led the way for the 76ers with 34 points.
Coach Brett Brown weighed in on how painful it is to lose two starters, “We’re missing two All-Stars. You yank that from the team and it’s painful.”
The 76ers improved to 28-2 at home this season. They seemed to have no problem handling the Knicks on Thursday night.
The Knicks trailed by 15 at halftime. They cut it to 5 with just over two minutes to play, but after back to back three’s from Milton and Harris the 76ers had locked up a victory.
The Knicks have now lost six consecutive games. They are 17-42. They have officially clinched a losing season for the sixth straight year.
Julius Randle had 30 points, 10 rebound, and 5 assists.
Elfrid Payton also recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists.
Frank Ntilikina missed his third straight game, and Dennis Smith Jr. left in the second half with concussion like symptoms and did not return.
