The New York Giants and Stop & Shop come together to support the food bank for New York City with their annual Gameday Food Drive.
Fans are being asked to bring non-perishables to the Nov. 4 Giants vs. Cowboys game at MetLife Stadium. If fans cannot make it to the game, all 27 New York City Stop & Shops will be serving as additional donation sites between Nov. 2-4.
To help startup the food drive, Giants guard Will Hernandez made an appearance at the Staten Island Stop & Shop, 1441 Richmond Ave., this past Tuesday, Oct 29. Hernandez assisted with donation collection and discussed talking about his team’s participation in the food drive, he was also greeted fans, posed for photos and signed autographs.
“We’re so grateful for the longstanding support that Stop & Shop and the New York Giants have been able to provide Food Bank during their annual Gameday Food Drive,” said Camesha Grant, Food Bank’s Vice President, Community Connections and Reach. “One in five New Yorkers struggle with food insecurity, and too often, families in New York City are forced to choose between putting food on the table and keeping a roof over their heads. Programs like this help ensure that all New Yorkers can enjoy healthy, delicious meals during the holiday season.”
On Nov. 3rd, former Giants players will also be making appearances from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at three different New York City Stop & Shop locations. Jessie Armstead will be at the 625 Atlantic Ave location, while David Diehl is at the 74-17 Grand Ave Location and Leonard Marshall at the 1710 Avenue Y. Fans will be encouraged to get photos and autographs with these players at each location.
