Jamal Adams is well-known in the NFL universe. He made his mark with the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets, earning three Pro Bowls and an All-Pro in the process. In eight seasons, he has seven forced fumbles, four interceptions, and 501 combined tackles.

That’s pretty darn good for a strong safety ready to catapult the Las Vegas Raiders to the top. The Kansas City Chiefs have some questions, while the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos want to usurp them. What a time to be alive in the AFC West, eh?

So let’s look at the new Raider and see what he brings. Why should fans be on board with the latest addition playing in Las Vegas? What’s making him stand out as the regular season ramps up? Let’s see what this seasoned veteran can bring to the table and see how he’ll impact the roster makeup.

Why Las Vegas Raiders fans should be excited about Jamal Adams

One thing that stands out with Adams is that he’s an aggressive playmaker. When he’s on the field, he gravitates towards the ball. Such an aggressive style is key to the Raiders having a better defense.

He also has the veteran experience needed to lead the defense. Adams uses that sixth sense and gravitation towards the ball based on his experience, adding another element to the Raiders’ defense.

Additionally, he’s terrific at stuffing the run. The 29-year-old can be sent in a blitz package and wreak havoc on opponents if needed, making him a wrecking ball. You can even deploy him on special teams if needed!

What Adams must work on as a player

While that sounds nice, he’s not the best at covering receiver routes. Sometimes, he overdraws and unintentionally lets a receiver get open. Moreover, his impatience can bite him in one-on-one situations.

Still, it’s always good to have a veteran player come in and make plays. The Raiders look to test him at linebacker, which would be a good fit for Adams. It suits his aggressive style better and can help him stuff the run.

Who knows? He might even get back to his Pro Bowl days when he was in the secondary. Wouldn’t that be something for an upstart Raiders team looking to shed its mediocre identity?
