Tom Brady has only known success throughout his NFL career. He has six Super Bowl rings, five Super Bowl MVPs, and three NFL MVPs. The New England Patriots legend also has two NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards and was even the 2009 NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
That’s an impressive resume in itself. However, that’s not where it ends. He also has 15 Pro Bowls (most in NFL history), was the NFL’s passing leader four times, and was the NFL’s passing touchdowns leader five times.
That’s not even mentioning how he has:
- The most career passing yards (89,214)
- The most career completions (7,753)
- The most career touchdown passes (649)
- The most fourth-quarter comebacks (46)
- The most game-winning drives (58)
Now, that’s a resume, my friends.
Now, he has the daunting task of revitalizing the Las Vegas Raiders and making them relevant again. However, numerous obstacles remain.
For example, is Geno Smith the long-term answer? What about giving Maxx Crosby a fellow defensive end to complement him? But that doesn’t just stop with these players.
Tom Brady has the challenging task of changing the Raiders’ culture for good
Ever since the Raiders made the Super Bowl in 2002, they’ve only had two playoff appearances. Both times, they were eliminated during wild card weekend. That’s not good enough for a franchise with so much history and pride to its name.
Instead of glorious playoff victories, they’ve dealt with countless failures. That included Christian Wilkins kissing teammates on the forehead and JaMarcus Russell’s lack of health. That’s not even mentioning the numerous arrests during the past two decades. Overall, the past two decades have been an unmitigated disaster.
So what do the Raiders do? Out goes Wilkins and in comes a stud running back. A Super Bowl-winning head coach also comes into the fold, giving the Raiders a much-needed identity.
Praise the football gods, eh?
Now’s the time for Brady’s Raiders to act
Looking at the AFC West, fans will notice that the Kansas City Chiefs are reeling. Will that translate into a downfall? Maybe or maybe not. It depends on what happens with Patrick Mahomes.
But you also have the other two teams being competitive. Both will be playoff contenders heading into the new season, leaving the Raiders… at the bottom.
However, that shouldn’t discourage Brady’s boys. Instead, that should give them a chip on their shoulders. So far, the preseason has been impressive for the gang. They look energetic and ready to play football.
If they can carry that into the regular season, watch out. The Raiders might be back in town.
