Favorite Five NFL Players of 2024

Everyone has their favorite players and favorite teams. Needless to say, what makes us love them isn’t always their stats. A lot of it comes down to charisma and entertainment. Some of us feel a connection to an individual athlete’s story or life  experience. Sometimes. it’s enough that we share a simple hobby or interest.  For whatever reason, there are certain players we each love to watch regardless of how they play.

In no particular order, and for a variety of reasons, these are my current top five favorite players in the NFL.

Raheem Mostert

Raheem Mostert is, and has been, in my top five favorite players for a few years. He came to Miami in 2023 after 6 years as running back for the 49ers. Mostert was able to come to a 2 year contract agreement with the Dolphins which is great news for Miami fans. In 2023 he held the lead in rushing touchdowns. Even though he dealt with some pesky injuries toward the end of the season he was one of the best players on the field. At 32 years old, he is a smart RB who keeps putting up numbers with the best.

Fred Warner

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner is one of the best there is. For good reason he is already projected to end up in the hall of fame. Warner is an agile and dynamic player with a  strategic playing personality. He is dexterous and nimble at high speed. Fred Warner is a player that makes you say “wow!”

Ja’Marr Chase

To be honest, there is a long list of excellent wide receivers this year. Tyreek Hill is possibly the most popular, but Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase deserves the spotlight. Overall, his physical ability and capacity to translate athletic skill onto the field is simply amazing. Ja’Marr Chase is always fun to watch. He continues to raise the bar on his own personal best.  Chase has a drive toward excellence that is inspiring. For all these reasons he is a favorite. Hopefully, he has a very long NFL career for us all to enjoy.

Jalen Hurts

When it comes to quarterbacks it was a toss up between Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts, but I had to go with Hurts. He’s a young player pretty early in his career. However, in 2021 he stood out by leading the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, and his pass accuracy is simply stellar. It is a pleasure to watch him play anytime, anywhere.

Christian Wilkins

Enjoying some quality trash talk cannot be denied and Las Vegas Raider Christian Wilkins is one of the best and funniest at it. As far as game goes, he is a terrific defensive tackle and became a favorite while in Miami. But it’s his comments on and off field which have endeared him to an even wider range of football fans and aficionados.
