HollyWood’s NFL Power Rankings: Week 2

Image: Jed Jacobsohn/AP

Week 1 of the NFL season is officially over. Some teams dominated, while others looked like they were hanging on. My rankings have significantly changed this week with a full slate of games in the books. Teams either proved their rankings were correct or entirely off. Here’s how the rankings look entering Week 2.

Biggest Gainers

Multiple teams were imposing in Week 1 and are flying up the rankings this week. The Buccaneers gained eight spots in the ranking this week after they looked phenomenal against the Commanders. Baker and the offense looked on point, and the defense was stout. They are a challenging playoff threat when Tampa Bay plays like they did Sunday.

The Cowboys moved up six spots after spanking the Browns. Dallas was a team I was skeptical of to start the season, but after week 1, they look like potential Super Bowl contenders. Considering it’s the Cowboys, that could change, but I have faith they’ll at least win a playoff game this season.

Biggest Losers

Some teams fell more than others after not looking like themselves in Week 1. The Browns fell thirteen spots in the ranking after an abysmal opener. Watson didn’t look excellent, and with controversy surrounding him again, I don’t expect the Browns to do much with him at the helm.

The Falcons dropped eight spots after losing to the Steelers, who only scored field goals all day. The offense, despite the weapons, did not look good. Cousins didn’t look prepared at all, either. The Falcons could quickly turn things around once Cousins and the offense get in a groove. Either way, this team has a lot of work to do.

The Bengals fell five spots after their embarrassing loss to the Patriots. The Bengals always start poorly like this, so I’m not concerned. The Packers dropped slightly in the rankings, partially due to the Jordan Love injury. Lastly, with how badly the Giants played, they are lucky not to be in last place. Without a doubt, the Giants and Panthers are the worst teams in the league.

Week 2’s Matchups-Ranking Changers

Week 2 starts with Miami and Buffalo on Thursday Night Football and features plenty of exciting games. The Bucs and Lions will be an exciting test for Tampa Bay. Rams-Cardinals will be highly competitive alongside Chiefs-Bengals. Not to mention, both SNF and MNF should be exciting matchups. There’s a lot to look forward to this week.
