Remember when Jeff Hardy of the Hardy Boyz was speared by Edge at WrestleMania 17? It was one of the most iconic moments in pro wrestling history, marking a high point of creativity within the business. Of course, it didn’t help the legendary tag team that they were on the receiving end of that Spear. Still, it solidified the duo as one of the industry’s best tag teams.

In fact, let’s forget about that moment for a second and find some highlights for Jeff and Matt Hardy. The two wrestling legends have won countless titles across many promotions, whether it was in WWE or TNA. On top of that, there were countless memorable feuds that the duo had together.

For Matt Hardy, it was the infamous feud with Edge that involved Lita. For Jeff Hardy, it was CM Punk and the battle of a free spirit vs. a straight-edge wrestler. But those moments aren’t the only things that made the brothers iconic. Fans will recall their TNA dominance and see how Matt and Jeff Hardy shaped the wrestling landscape. How, you ask?

Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero

If there was ever a character who captured the zeitgeist of the pro wrestling world, it was “Broken” Matt Hardy. The persona established a deranged, yet “Woken” version of the mid-card legend, showing his delusion for everyone to see.

Of course, this was capped off by one word: “Delete!” The word showed how crazed he was, shouting the word as his servant flipped through pages while Hardy’s adversaries were wiped away and became obsolete. Additionally, it became more than a wrestling gimmick: it became a meme in the pro wrestling community.

The other side of the equation was Brother Nero, who brought upper card credibility to the mix. Matt Hardy drags his brother into his realm and “breaks” him, turning him into a psychotic menace.

Isn’t that the most beautiful thing ever? It makes the competition feel… obsolete.

The Hardy Boyz Also Achieved Success in Other Areas That Are Not “Broken”

If you want proof that the Hardy Boyz were successful beyond the “Broken” gimmick, look at their hardware during their TNA tenure. They won the TNA World Tag Team Championships four times and won the TNA World Tag Team Championship Tournament in 2015 together.

Both also combined for five TNA World Heavyweight Championships, making them the most iconic wrestlers in the promotion. Of course, there have been some lowlights from the brothers (think of Jeff Hardy being drunk during Victory Road against Sting in 2011). However, the brothers raised the bar for the brand, establishing themselves as certified heavyweights.

Of course, there’s also the sustained success in WWE, where the brothers have won numerous championships. Fans will remember Jeff Hardy going on an incredible run during the late 2000s, winning world championships. But the best moments will come from those moments in TNA, whether they were broken or not.
