Atlanta Hawks at Memphis Grizzlies

Final Score: ATL 132 – MEM 130

The Atlanta Hawks took down the Memphis Grizzlies right at the buzzer to kick off the first of a back-to-back set. Memphis held a 124-113 lead with 6:30 left, but Caris LeVert hit a three and got a layup to tie the game at the 1:30 mark. Neither team scored another point until a wild final possession. Desmond Bane, who posted his first career triple-double with  35 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists, had a chance to win it for Memphis. Dyson Daniels had other plans. He stole the ball, his third of the night, and hit LeVert, who was running up the middle of the floor. LeVert drove and euro-stepped his way to a layup right before the horn sounded, capping off a 16-point fourth frame on 7-8 shooting.

The Grizzlies and Hawks ranked first and second, respectively, in pace. Both offenses responded, shooting over 50% from the field, but the Hawks dominated in two key areas: points in the paint and turnovers. They outscored the Grizzlies 82-58 in the paint and forced 19 turnovers. Atlanta collected 29 points off Memphis’ miscues.

Zaccharie Risacher delivered one of his best games of the season with 27 points on 11-13 shooting and four steals. LeVert scored 25 points, while Onyeka Okongwu had a strong 16-point, 12-rebound double-double. Trae Young shot 5-17 from the field but dished out 15 dimes.

Jaren Jackson Jr. only played two minutes because he left after suffering a left ankle injury. Luke Kennard posted 17 points and seven assists, while Vince Williams Jr. and Zach Edey had 15 points each.

The Milwaukee Bucks pulled away late in their win over the Hawks on Tuesday at State Farm Arena. There were 26 lead changes, and neither squad led by more than eight points. Both teams made 26 field goals in the first half to enter the break tied at 66, but the Bucks took control late in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Atlanta 35-26.

After Mouhamed Gueye met Giannis Antetokounmpo at the rim for a monster block, LeVert knocked down a corner three to tie the score at 121 apiece with one minute left.

However, the Hawks did not convert three open looks, while Milwaukee scored on their final four possessions. Young missed two floaters, and Georges Niang missed a triple off Okongwu’s offensive rebound to finish the contest. Atlanta shot just 12-29 on two-point field goals in the second half.

Despite the loss, Gueye had an impressive outing, finishing with 15 points on 4-6 from beyond the arc. LeVert continued his hot run for 21 points on 8-13 shooting, and Young totaled 28 points and 13 assists.

Game 63: March 6, 2025

Indiana Pacers at Atlanta Hawks

Final Score: IND 118 – ATL 124

After failing to execute down the stretch on Tuesday, the Hawks rebounded against the Indiana Pacers two days later. Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin did not play due to injury, so Indiana was down two key pieces.

Atlanta trailed 86-94 heading into the fourth quarter, but Risacher and Niang knocked down three straight threes to give their squad a 107-102 lead with five minutes left. The Hawks led the rest of the way. Young and Okongwu closed the contest 6-6 from the charity stripe, and Atlanta outscored the Pacers 38-24 in the final 12 minutes.

The Hawks dominated the paint points, 74-46, and bench scoring, 50-22. Niang dropped 24 points with four triples on 10-15 shooting off the bench. Okongwu had 20 points and 13 boards, while Young scored 22 points. The Hawks’ star also dished out 16 dimes compared to just one turnover. Daniels added 17 points.

Game 64: March 8, 2025

Indiana Pacers at Atlanta Hawks

Final Score: IND 118 – ATL 120

The Hawks won the season series against the Pacers with a second consecutive victory at State Farm Arena to end the week. Haliburton remained sidelined, but Mathurin made his return. In contrast to Thursday’s contest, Atlanta got out to a red-hot start. It took a 39-19 lead after the first frame, holding the Pacers to 28% shooting and outscoring them 22-4 in the paint.

However, Indiana fought back in the second half. The visitors started the third quarter on an 8-0 run and cut the Hawks’ lead to single digits later in the frame. Suddenly, the Pacers only found themselves down seven points heading into the fourth.

With momentum on their side, the Pacers took their first lead, 104-102, since the score was 2-0. Atlanta needed another strong performance down the stretch and got it. Okongwu and LeVert spearheaded the Hawks’ attack to take back a two-point lead within one minute. After Gueye forced a Mathurin miss at the rim, Indiana was forced to play the foul game with the shot clock turned off. Young knocked down two free throws, giving his squad a 119-116 lead. The Pacers needed a three, but Siakam forgot the score and drove to the rim for an uncontested dunk, effectively sealing the win for the home team.

Young scored 26 of his 36 points in the first half, while Okongwu dropped a 16-point, 16-rebound double-double with three steals and three blocks. LeVert totaled 26 points off the bench, continuing his great work as the sixth man.

Siakam only made two field goals in the first half but scored 16 points in the second to finish with 23. Mathurin erupted for 30 points on 4-6 shooting from deep.
