Orlando Magic vs New York Knicks

Final Score: NYK 121 – ORL 106

Tuesday night’s win over the Orlando Magic saw the New York Knicks securing their third straight win. With this win, New York has advanced to the NBA Cup knockout round. The Magic have also managed to advance to the next round despite their loss. Orlando had the highest point differential of all the second-place teams in the Eastern groups, with a +40 point differential.  The Knicks still remain perfect in the NBA Cup. They joined the Milwaukee Bucks as the one of the teams to not lose a single game in the tournament. Many factors contributed to New York’s emergence as a winner. One of them is due to having a good shooting night.

New York did not get into a great start early in the opening quarter, but as soon as they found their rhythm, they managed to take control of the entire game. Leading the way for the Knicks is Josh Hart. Despite having the fewest points among his teammates, he still had a great game. The 29-year-old veteran managed to manage to record a triple-double of 11 points, 10 assists, and 13 assists. This was his seventh triple-double as a Knick, and he surpassed Mark Jackson for fifth of all time in franchise history.

Charlotte Hornets vs New York Knicks

Final Score: NYK 125 – CHA 101

Make that four straight victories for the Knicks. They’re on a roll as of late. Lots of things went right in this victory over the Charlotte Hornets. After starting the early quarter sluggish, New York began to find their rhythm for the remainder of the game. Leading the way for the Knicks is Karl-Anthony Towns. He had recorded his 12th consecutive double-double on Friday’s blowout win. Towns racked up 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting overall that came along with 16 rebounds. But he wasn’t the only one that had made a difference in this game. Josh Hart also completed his own double-double performance.

Game 22: December 7, 2024

Detroit Pistons vs New York Knicks

Final Score: DET 120 – NYK 111

Thursday night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons saw the Knicks’ four-game winning streak getting snapped. If there’s a reason why the Knicks had lost this game, it’s due to their sloppy plays on both ends. Similar to the previous game, New York was slacking off in the first quarter. They had poor shooting that came along with multiple turnovers, which had also contributed to Detroit’s big run in the first quarter. But you have to give credit to the Pistons, who took advantage of New York’s mistakes. Leading the way for Detroit is their rising star, Cade Cunningham.

Cunningham recorded 29 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds for Detroit. It was also his fifth triple-double of the season. His triple-double is the third most by a Pistons player in franchise history. Grant Hill had the second most with 10 triple-doubles in 1995-96 and 13 in 1996-97. Carrying the load for the Knicks is Jalen Brunson. He had a great game for the team. Brunson managed to score 31 points that came along with 4 rebounds and 10 assists. To bounce back, New York needs to figure out their early quarter woes and reduce turnovers.
