Game 16: November 25, 2024
New York Knicks at Denver Nuggets
Final Score: NYK 145 – DEN 118
Monday night’s win over the Denver Nuggets saw the New York Knicks pull off another impressive victory against one of the top teams in the Western Conference. Lots of things went right for New York in this win. First and foremost, OG Anunoby led the way with 40 points, which was a career-high for him. This game might have been his best as a Knick thus far. But he wasn’t the only one who had set out a career-high throughout the game. Jalen Brunson also matched a career-high of 17 assists that came along with 23 points. The Knicks also set out a new franchise record for most assists (23) in a half.
Game 17: November 27, 2024
New York Knicks at Dallas Mavericks
Final Score: DAL 129 – NYK 114
Wednesday night’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks is a tough one to swallow for the Knicks. They came in struggling against a Dallas team that was without their star Luka Dončiċ. It was Dončiċ’s fourth consecutive missed game due to a sprained right wrist. The team would have to rely on their second-best star, Kyrie Irving, who led the way. Irving led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. But there are also other takeaways from this game that has led to the devastating loss for New York.
New York had shooting woes throughout the game. An ugly first half put the team in a hole they didn’t want to be in. By the end of the half, they trailed Dallas 60-38 after shooting 26.2 percent from the field. Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges all fared well (26 points on 9-of-20 shooting), but the rest of the team went cold. Coming back from the half, they were able to climb themselves a bit out of the hole, but it was too late.
Game 18: November 29, 2024
New York Knicks at Charlotte Hornets
Final Score: NYK 99 – CHA 98
It was an ugly win, but the Knicks found a way to get the job done. With their victory over the Charlotte Hornets, New York has now improved to 3-0 in East Group A play. Unfortunately for Charlotte, this loss would eliminate them from advancing in the NBA Cup. Despite the win for the Knicks, they still have several issues to address moving forward. One of them is their shooting offense. Similar to Wednesday’s game against Dallas, New York had another pitiful performance on Friday night.
For the second straight game, New York was just limited to 15 points in the opening quarter. Part of this was thanks to their poor shooting performance in the quarter. New York had shot 37 percent from the field. The other issue was being able to limit the turnovers. Now, the Knicks have a very good percentage of turnovers allowed per game, which is 12.8%. Only the Boston Celtics have the very best percentage of turnovers per game, with 11.6%. That team plays mistake-free almost every game, which is not surprising. The Knicks overall need to do a better job handling the ball.

New Orleans Pelicans vs New York Knicks
Final Score: NYK 118 – NOH 85
Sunday night’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans saw the Knicks emerge as blowout victors. New York now improves to 12-8 on the season, while the Pelicans, on the other hand, drop to 4-17. There were a lot of positive things we learned from the Knicks in this blowout win. First and foremost, their shooting was much more efficient than it was in the previous couple of games. Lots of key players showed up tonight, as they should be doing on a consistent daily basis. The one player that proved to be the difference for tonight’s game is Mikal Bridges.
Bridges tonight arguably had his best game as a Knick thus far. Tonight, he managed to score 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting percentage. Even better, he made three-pointers on 12 attempts. The team is hoping this can help him get in a groove for the upcoming games. New York would continue their NBA Cup Group Play when they host the Orlando Magic on Tuesday evening.
