Game 3: October 28, 2024
Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks
Final Score: CLE 110 – NYK 104
Monday night’s loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Garden is indeed a tough one to swallow. It was a physical game between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. There were reasons why New York dropped their first home loss to their rival. One of them is due to the disappearance of Josh Hart. New York lost their guard in the fourth quarter due to an injury. Hart was going for a loose ball near mid-court, and his right leg had collided with Caris LeVert. Moments after the game ended, the team revealed that Hart had suffered a leg contusion. For now, they’re not ruling him out for Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Game 4: October 30, 2024
New York Knicks at Miami Heat
Final Score: NYK 116 – MIA 107
Things look so much better for New York on the road after dropping their previous game at home. On Friday night, they defeated the Miami Heat in a blowout victory. This loss also gave Miami their second loss at home. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way. After struggling in his previous game, he delivered a phenomenal performance in this victory. He dropped 44, which by far is the most by any Knicks player this season. By halftime, Towns had 24 points. While in the second half of the game he would score another 20 points. Overall, he finished the evening 17 of 25 from the field while also grabbing 13.
Towns also became the first Knicks‘ center to drop 40+ points ever since Patrick Ewing accomplished that feat back in 19950 Prior to that, he became the first Knicks player with 4o points, 10 rebounds, and 65% shooting since Carmelo Anthony back in 2014. The team couldn’t ask for a better performance from Towns, but he delivered. New York hopes they can see more performances like this from him this as they progress through the entire season.
Game 5: November 1st, 2024
New York Knicks at Detroit Pistons
Final Score: NYK 128 – DET 98
For the time this season, the New York Knicks have won consecutive games. While it’s not surprising that their win came against the Detroit Pistons – a team that’s not expected to compete this year in the Eastern Conference – there were key factors in New York’s success on Friday night. Among them was the phenomenal performance of Jalen Brunson. He had hit a season of 36 points in the game. Even better, 15 of his points came in the first quarter, during which the team blew out the Pistons by a staggering 26-point margin. He went 6 for 8 from the three-point line. Overall, he finished the evening 14 for 22 from the field and added five assists.
Then there was Karl-Anthony Towns. He look great as well. Before the game even started, he was a game-time decision due to a sprained left wrist. He finished the evening with 21 points. Sixteen of his points came in the first half. It was enough to keep Detroit from coming back from a tough deficit. To add to his impact, Towns recorded his fourth consecutive double-double.
